This is a process-driven workshop to learn the practical steps to successfully transferring a photographic image to a screen

The following elements of the process will be covered by the course

  • Preparing a transparency from a suitable photograph. Please notethere will be no opportunity to manipulate this image digitally during the workshop so you will need to provide an image ready to reproduce
  • You can provide an image already on transparent film / or make a direct transparency on our photocopier from a black and white paper copy of the photograph
  • Selection of screen with appropriate screen mesh for the design
  • Degreasing and preparing the screen
  • Mixing up the Azocol photographic medium
  • Setting up the coating trough
  • Coating the screen
  • Using the drying cupboard with appropriate drying times that will not damage the screen
  • Using the UV Exposure Unit | preparing the unit
  • Setting up the design and the screen
  • Exposure times
  • Washout and development of the screen
  • Drying times
  • Setting up the printing area
  • Selecting papers
  • Mixing inks | storage
  • Use of the squeegee
  • Printing your image
  • Cleaning the screens correctly and thoroughly
  • Use of power washer | Health and Safety
  • Pregasol F | correct use of emulsion decoater | health and safety |
  • Pregasol P | correct use of emulsion decoater | health and safety |
  • Buying your own screen | suppliers

Bring along some protection for your clothes.

There are some facilities for making a hot drink, microwave if you would like to bring along your lunch

We are close to the main shopping centre and supermarket

Free parking all day outside the studio on Sundays
