Bill Chambers was appointed to the consultancy post to coordinate the new resource project described below.

Information and Resource Coordination Project

Arts Council of Wales:  Application No: 20060951:

With our aim to increase the efficiency of using volunteer support, this project put in place an experienced printmaker whose remit was:-

  • to produce a comprehensive and coherent body of technical development and support material for the full range of our users

  • to make this reference and support material more accessible through a wider range of access points and allow more members to be self sufficient and progress at their own pace as well as establishing a valuable resource for artistic development for users both in-house and outreach.

  • to develop a coherent programme matrix.

  • to develop an infrastructure to support a regular long term programme to encourage Young Printmakers

The Studio Manager was able to use this post to consolidate all that had been learned in the previous 2.5 years both in terms of printmaking techniques and members' professional development. A Workshop Manual has been developed to support all the Open Access leaders, a marketing strategy will be completed by June 2008 and this new website is nearing completion.

We see the actual process of delivering this project as an energising and productive catalyst for change. It will involve every aspect of our organisation in carrying forward the key aspirations of Swansea Print Workshop. It will reassert the core aims of organisation in promoting the appreciation, practice and understanding of printmaking whilst providing an opportunity to contribute to a culture of excellence.
