Swansea
We've just finished a run of exhibitions at Swansea's Cafe Nisse, situated in Wind Street in Swansea's Victorian banking quarter, which gave our members the chance to exhibit prints and drawings bi-monthly for almost two years. The owners of the premises, Coastal Housing, are moving and we are now having discussions with them to set up member exhibitions in other spaces owned by the company.

About the Project
The project – ‘Drawn to Print’ will set an agenda to explore new boundaries of current practice supporting the activity of drawing and the translation of this material into non traditional and traditional print processes associated with the production of an original print.
The relationship between a direct drawing process and printmaking is one of great creative potential and can support a wide variety of new approaches supported by new technologies and new materials.
The project will enable us to explore the breadth of the relationship between drawing and printmaking through three artists residencies each one illustrating an aspect / approach which will clearly demonstrate the close connection between gathering original [non photographic] material and the most direct processes of translation into print.
The project activities will also be a catalyst for exploring a creative approach to accessibility and exhibiting, with the aim of establishing a period of exhibitions in a number of venues across the city centre, with the potential to develop an art trail.
This in turn will build new relationships and increase the reach of SPW’s current audience by not only engaging existing members in new techniques and approaches but also by identifying new strategies for attracting artists from other disciplines.

Printers Stint: Rhondda Heritage Park
A recent exhibition called Printers Stint curated by Jan Pennell highlighted the excellent gallery at the Rhondda Heritage Centre.
Alan Atkins, Alan Bateman, William Brown, Nigel Bowles, Georgina Brownlow, Sheila Clark, Michael Goode, Valerie Ganz, Jackie Ford, Lesley Lillywhite, Nina Morgan & Alison Porter.

Jan would be interested in a Rhondda based project in print making and would collaborate on putting a project together. If anyone is interested in pursuing this it could be the basis of a small funding bid using the centre / area to develop some prints with a follow up exhibition / project work in the local community.
