Background
Artist's Statement The energies and forms of the natural world are the starting point for much of my work There is a constant recurrence of visual motifs and symbols, associated with the mythic cycles of nature and life. The intaglio processes of collagraph and etching always fascinate me. For these I often use organic materials which, I feel, mirror the contrasting fragility yet powerful forces of nature. I also combine these methods with other forms of printmaking such as digital and stencil. Contrast is a recurring element in my work. I find working on a small scale is a challenging change to my usual practice. The narrative imagery and detail of my miniature prints is satisfyingly different to the open spaciousness I seek in my abstract work.
