ELISSA EVANS
(click below to view larger images, then click BACK to return)
Background In 2003 having escaped from a hectic life in London, Elissa worked at SPW helping to make the Printworks Outreach and The Dylan Thomas Projects great successes- even accompanying the DTP twelve prints to New York City where they went on display in non other than the Welsh Assembly’s Offices in The Chrysler Building in the heart of Manhattan. Now in 2008 whilst working full time (to pay the rent) and singing for her supper in her new found love- Jazz- Elissa hopes to find time to make more work and enjoy the opportunities SPW offers for Full members like her self. The first collaborative print of the year- ‘Shoes’ certainly got the creative juices flowing!
Artist's Statement I often work in strong lines and colours, when printing, but have a true love of the ‘sketch’, the study’, a beautiful hand drawn image that makes you stop and smile. In an attempt to move away from the traditional self portrait my current work is focusing on producing images that may not have me in them but which use ‘treasured possessions’ and or reference personal memories. Although these stem from the personal- I hope to evoke a sense of history and even a recognition of a shared experience. |
