Effective Marketing in Practice Project
Effective Marketing in Practice Project
Swansea Print Workshop has been successful in receiving an Arts Council of Wales Training Grant of £3372 towards their Effective Marketing in Practice project.
Artist Residencies and Studio Technician opportunities
New deadline for Artist in Residences applications and details of Studio Technician opportunity for our Drawn to Print Project available. See OPPORTUNITIES for full details.
The Drawn to Print project will set an agenda to explore new boundaries of current practice supporting the activity of drawing and the translation of this material into non traditional and traditional print processes associated with the production of an original print.
The relationship between a direct drawing process and printmaking is one of great creative potential and can support a wide variety of new approaches supported by new technologies and new materials. The project will enable us to explore the breadth of the relationship between drawing and printmaking through three artists residencies.
The Artist will be fully supported by an experienced project team who will be responsible for technical support in the studio context and administrative support including finances and budget, marketing and publicity, volunteer supervision and event management.
- 24/7 unlimited key holder access to a well equipped printmaking studio
- Materials budget for delivering workshops
- Access to printmaking materials for personal development to a value of £180
- Access to run additional workshops to the project on a free-lance basis

We were absolutely knocked out by the artists books Kelly made last year whilst on her residency here at SPW. We have asked her to come back and run a workshop for us. This is your opportunity to gather together all those interesting fragments and bits of prints you've kept but don't know what to do with....

A bookbinding workshop which explores the idea of combining drawings, patterns, mark making and typography into the creation of books.

Vetch veg
Updated March 12th
Dear All, We had a very successful visit to the Vetch Veg project on the 26th February.
Luckily the sun was shining, so Owen Griffiths was able to show six of us around and introduce us to the various aspects of the project, the chickens and local people involved in the project. We then spent two hours moving the raised beds and transporting some existing plants.
We have now arranged to meet up again on Sunday 25th March at 1pm at SPW. It will be another chance to go over to the site, and look at how the plants are coming along, do a bit of weeding or watering, seed planting, or even some drawing!
Already we have broad beans, onions and mint doing well and recent additions by Carys & Alan have given us french beans and carrots......
Our three raised beds are not too big, so we are not looking for a huge commitment. But, it would be good to encourage more SPW members to get involved in this very interesting project.
We also need donations (any condition) of the following:
Pots (all sizes) - the more unusual the better!
Watering Cans
Hand Tools
Forks, Spades
Seed Compost
Pond Plants
1/4 or 1/2 metre wooden barrels (for small wildlife pond)
If you have any of the above can you leave them in the Studio under the etching sink for collection.
Already we have been asked to come up with images for recipe cards and we are planning a drawing / printing day soon.
If you want to get involved please email: michaelgoode1@sky.com or text myself on 07980 009332.
cheers,
Michael
We've started to build our veg patch on this great site. Wide vistas of Swansea form the backdrop to the site - a view from Sandfields that has not been possible for many years.

Some residents have got off to a flying start using materials re-cycled from the site.

Quite a bit of planting has already been done - we've started off with garlic, onions and beans - horseradish in a pot. Anyone who has anything to split from their own gardens please bring along. If you want to help build up SPW's contribution to this project give us a call or email.
Owen promises that the garden hut is arriving soon as is the polytunnel to grow winter salad etc.
The Workshop now has a Twitter account - follow the link to check it out/ sign up and contribute. Print making links, news and events. Thanks to Carly Llewellyn for setting this up.
