Sarah Hopkins
Sarah Hopkins was born in South Wales, she gained an MA Fine Art with Distinction from Swansea Institute. She lectures at Gorseinon College, Swansea and regularly conducts workshops for community groups and professional printmakers. She was Project Manager for Swansea Print Workshop’s Festival of Muslim Cultures Print Project. Her work has featured in galleries across the UK and abroad, and is held in private collections in France, USA and Australia.

larger images) My work focuses on the urban environment and landscape, with an emphasis on repetitive pattern; the every-day occurrences, repetitious and transient experiences associated with journeys to and from the city, personal diaries of journeys that are narratives of every-day life; the daily journey back and forth to a place of work, which becomes significant as landmarks and milestones are greeted and time is measured by their passing. Also the impact of crowds on our cities and the rituals associated with their behaviour; football matches, which are attended religiously and communicate a sense of belonging as the masses regularly group to worship their team. Despite the freedom to fully explore other methods of working, the medium of printmaking has always been embraced.
