 Print Project

Swansea Print Workshop set up a special printmaking programme under the banner of the Festival of Muslim Culture UK 2006. The Festival is a year-long celebration of arts, humanities, education and discourse that seeks to foster an improved understanding and appreciation for Muslim culture. Major events and exhibitions have been organised across the United Kingdom in which moderate Muslim voices can be heard, and negative stereotypes challenged.

Under the Festival banner, Swansea Print Workshop established a powerful and unique partnership with printmakers from Pakistan, who shared their work with communities across the country. Alongside this, a dynamic programme of activities has taken place, such as printmaking workshops, exhibitions.  In addition a commemorative tri-lingual publication documents the programme in English, Welsh and Urdu.  These activities have introduced new cultural dimensions into the lives of young people, their teachers, community groups and professional artists in South Wales.  The results have been outstanding and have had a profound and lasting impact on all those who have been involved.
